Is it taco bell for lunch or the beginnings of a baby bump?

Happy Birthday to me!

We got a new camera for my birthday! It is the Nikon D40 and we love it! I still need to learn how to use it, but Brian's been taking some pretty good pictures so far. We figure this would be a good investment since we'd like to take nice pictures once the little one gets here. I'm thinking about taking a course at the community college this summer in digital photography to help me take better quality pictures and learn about all the features on my camera.

Brian made me a really special dinner for my birthday. It was garlic shrimp scampi on top of rice, asparagus, a salad and a delicious oreo cake. All I wanted was an ice cream cake, but go figure, Clovis does not have one in town! None of the bakeries make ice cream cake and we don't have a baskin robbins or cold stones. How depressing is that? Atleast the cake we got at the commisary was nice and moist.

Yesterday it snowed. I had high hopes that they would call it a snow day and I wouldn't have to work, but no such luck for me. Brian was lucky enough that they gave him half a snow day and he got to leave around lunch. At 5:30 I arrived home to the nicest surprise. Brian had cleaned the whole house for me and had chicken kababs on the bbq already grilling for dinner. Isn't that so sweet? He even did 3 loads of laundry. I'm pretty lucky to have him around. I've been so tired lately that it's been hard to keep up with everything including work, my child development class, and housework. It was a wonderful surprise to arrive home to such a nice atmosphere. He is so thoughtful.

Tuesday is the big day and I'm feeling excited and nervous about our first ultrasound. We aren't doing much this weekend but relaxing, dog sitting for 5 dogs, and Brian is making corned beef/cabbage tonight. We put it in the crockpot early this morning and the aroma from the kitchen is making my mouth water. I hope it tastes as good as it smells.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes, cards, gifts, and calls. It was great hearing from so many people. It made my day very special. Thanks Again.

Last week Brian and I stayed at the Luxor on the strip in Las Vegas. We had a great time, but next time we think we will stay towards the North end of the strip. We spent our time playing craps, visiting w/ family, going to a friend's wedding, walking the strip, eating way too much at the Planet Hollywood Buffet, and watching the water show at Bellagio. We were down $100 by the time we left for the airport, and decided to put $10 in a quarter wheel of fortune machine. We ended up winning a hundred and thus breaking even for the trip in gambling money at least. When we got back home I picked Kasey up at the vet where he was boarded. They told me he was depressed the whole time. He only left his area to go potty when they let him out and he wouldn't play at all. The second he saw me, my heart just melted after being greeted with that spastic little wag of his tail. He was so happy to see me, I felt guilty about leaving him there. That little guy just tugs at my heart. Gracie did really well in the comfort of our home. There was an indentation on the bed where I assume she spent most of her time sleeping. We did arrive home to find that a huge part of our fence had fallen down during some strong winds. Luckily, our builder had it put back up with in a couple days of calling him. I'm surprised our house wasn't burglarized while we were gone with that fence down.
On Wednesday at 1am I got a surprising phone call from Brian. I was in a very peaceful sleep when I got the call that Brian's tire had a blow out while leaving base after working the night shift. I had to get my tired, pregnant butt out of bed and drive all the way to base to pick him up. In the end, it all worked out. Brian put his spare on the next day and got his tire fixed for only $12. Turns out he picked up a pretty big nail. That's about all the excitement here. Only 2 and a half more weeks until our first ultrasound. I can't wait to see that little heartbeat.
Oh yea, on Friday Brian made the best beer butt chicken. I was not a very happy camper to wait the 2 hours for him to roast the bird on the bbq w/ a beer can stuffed up it's butt. I got home from work and Brian took me to walmart, and at this point I was already starved. He neglected to tell me that it would take another hour and a half to roast the chicken. I was one cranky pregnant lady. Luckily for him, the chicken was so delicious. It was really moist and just fell apart. I would definitely have it again, but next time I would do it during the weekend so that we could start earlier. My baby likes me to eat regularly or I get sick and unhappy.
This weekend we made a big trip to Lowes to pick up a water dispenser. The base offers free water that has been specially treated and purified. The public water supply has too much fluoride and apparently if I drink the water here, our baby's teeth will come in brown.

I'm sad that the work week begins again tomorrow. I thought it was Saturday today and nearly cried when I realized that tomorrow I have to get up early for another long day at work. I hope everyone has a great week.
